Eat more vegetables and beans. In general, foods high in fiber cannot be digested or absorbed by the body easily and therefore help in reducing blood sugar levels. Include fish as a regular part of your diet. Fish should be a mainstay in your diet now due to its high levels of omega-3 fatty acids. Salmon and tuna, in particular, are very rich in them and are very light, healthy choices, too. However, most fish are safe and good to eat. Mackerel, herring, lake trout, and sardines are good as well.

Choose fat free dairy products. Milk, yogurt, and cheese are all good choices if they’re fat free – you can still get all their nutrition, calcium, magnesium, and vitamins without the harmful fats by choosing these varieties.

Minimize your sugar intake as much as possible. You can find sugar in many sources: fruits, sweetened drinks, ice creams, desserts, and sweet breads. Instead, use products with artificial sweeteners such as saccharin or sucralose as they provide you the sweet taste you want without glucose breaking up in your body and elevating your sugar levels.

Cut out the white carbohydrates. Substitute your carbohydrate intake of white flour, bread, pasta or rice with whole grains. They contain much higher amounts of magnesium, chromium and fiber. Even white potatoes can be switched out for sweet potatoes.

• Try to increase use of fruits, vegetables and different types of salads. If you don’t want to eat food directly, you can use their juices which are full of vitamins and nutrients. Always refrain from using artificial, chemical and preserved items. The best way is to use the organic items.
• The grain food such as oats, millet, wheat, rye, amaranth can help to regain the proper functioning of your body.
• For non-obese patients with type 2 diabetes, Sulfonyl urea will likely be your doctor’s first choice, followed by Biguanides. Insulin therapy will be followed if the first choices weren’t totally sufficient to make your disease stable.
• Add healthy fats like nuts, olive oils, or peanut butter to your meals for rich flavor without the sugar and bad fats.
• Never use refined carbohydrates as they are not good for health. These include cookies, chocolates, cakes, breakfast cereals and most importantly the soft drinks.
• There are some good fats present in oils such as raw nuts, pumpkin seed oil and olive oil.
• The margarine products contain synthetic fats which are never good for the pancreas.
